VPMS Marathi Pre-Primary School

Vile Parle Mahila Sangh, a service oriented organization, was established on January 14, 1952. Its primary objective is to facilitate the development and welfare of women and children.

Despite challenging circumstances at that time, Smt. Mangalabai Bhagwat had, with the help of some friends, set up a nursery in June 1955. Initially, the nursery was functioning from Madhavrao Bhagwat’s ‘Samruddhi’ bungalow with a meager student strength of just 10–12 students. After 1970, it was shifted to the institute’s own premises. At present more than 300 students are being educated in the institute.

The first principal of the nursery was Smt. Sudha Ganu, who was in charge from 1955 to 1992 and played a stellar role in taking it to new heights. Thereafter, Smt. Neela Kolhatkar took upon the responsibility from 1992 to 2003, while from September 2003 Smt. Sheela Joshi was at the helm. Since June 2006 to date, Smt. Meghna Mestry has been in charge of the nursery.

Alongside education, the nursery also focuses on extra curricular activities and sports, children are encouraged to participate in inter school events to boost their social skills and personalities. Children of Shishu Vihar participate in various competitions organized by ‘Sanskriti Kaladarpan’ such as drawing, acting, fancy dress, elocution competition, folk dance competition. It’s matter of pride that children who have participated in Camlin Colour Contest’ have achieved National Level Position. Dev Vani Mandiram organize Geeta Pathan and Chinmay Mission organize Sanskrit Shloka Pathan competitions. Our children participate enthusiastically in these competitions and win the awards too.

With the untiring efforts of the teachers, parents and co-operation of all helpers, Vile Parle Mahila Sangh’s nursery continues to flourish and nurture young minds successfully, year after year.
